The Windhoek Oktoberfest 2026 officially launched today, promising two authentically Bavarian days under a Namibian sky and one of the most genuine Oktoberfest celebrations held outside of Germany.
The launch confirmed a full return to the festival's roots with Bavarian music, Festbier brewed to the 1516 purity law and the authentic games and traditions that have carried the Windhoek Oktoberfest through more than six decades. The renewed focus on authenticity follows direct feedback from festival-goers, who have consistently called for the Windhoek Oktoberfest to hold on to the traditions that set it apart, from the music to the games to the food.
In his address, NBL Managing Director Waldemar von Lieres announced that from this year, Namibia Breweries, OL and SKW are standing together as partners in Windhoek Oktoberfest: "Three organisations, one festival, all pulling in the same direction. OL brings boldness and a belief in building things for Namibia's future. SKW brings the grounds, the history and the community that has hosted this festival for generations. And we bring what we've always brought: the beer, the brewing heritage and the reason we come to work in the morning — to brew the joy of true togetherness.”
Delivering the remarks on behalf of Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of the OL Group, Gideon Shilongo, Corporate Affairs Manager, said the focus for 2026 is simple: “Authenticity in the music, the food and the Festbier. Tradition in the games and the customs. And a welcoming spirit that honours Bavarian heritage while reflecting the warmth of Namibian hospitality.”
That homecoming spirit runs through the festival programme too. Norbert Wurm confirmed what visitors can expect: die Kirchdorfer returns from Bavaria for a 14th year, joined by the Rocktoberfest Dancers, Schaftlacher-Schuhplattler and the ÖK Beans Band alongside firm favourites like the Beer Queen finals, log-sawing and brick-lifting. Radio Wave returns as the festival's official media partner for 2026.
