One online ticket could put you and a friend on a plane to Munich. Add a Bierkönigin crown, three Maßkrug holds, a brick lift and a log-sawing race and there are five ways to leave SKW a winner on 30 and 31 October. Ts and Cs apply.

The games have been part of Oktoberfest for as long as there has been an Oktoberfest and nothing pulls a crowd off the benches faster than someone holding a full Maß at arm's length with the whole tent counting along. This year the prizes are worth the effort: a trip for two to Germany, two nights away at Mokuti Etosha or the Strand Hotel Swakopmund and N$10,000 in Pupkewitz Megabuild vouchers. You could win one of them by buying your ticket online. The other four you win on the day, in front of everyone. Ts and Cs apply

‍

1. Your ticket could fly you to Munich

Buy your ticket online and you are in the draw for a trip for two to Germany. The winner chooses the festival: Munich Oktoberfest 2027, the original, or the Paulaner Strong Beer Festival 2027, Munich's spring celebration of strong beer. The prize covers return flights for two, festival tickets, two Paulaner hats and two Paulaner mugs to raise when you get there.

There is no form to fill in and nothing to post. Every ticket bought online before 30 October 2026 through NAM Events is an entry: Early Bird tickets, standard online tickets and VIP tables all count. One ticket is one entry, so the friend who buys for the whole group holds the most chances. Entries close at twelve in the afternoon on Thursday, 29 October and the winner is announced that evening. Ts and Cs apply.

‍

2. Carry the most, wear the crown

The Bierkönigin is the title every woman at the festival wants. Twenty contestants qualify, in two groups of ten, carrying full Maß Steins: twelve to start, working up to fifteen. The top three from each group go through to the final, which starts at fifteen Maß. The winner is crowned Windhoek Oktoberfest Bierkönigin 2026 with the sash and a bouquet and takes home two nights away for two from OL Leisure, worth around N$20,000. She picks Mokuti Etosha, with dinner, bed and breakfast or the Strand Hotel Swakopmund, with breakfast and restaurant vouchers for lunch and dinner. It is open to women 18 and older in a traditional Dirndl or authentic Lederhosen. The judges' decision is final.

‍

3. Hold your Maß the longest

Maßkrugstemmen looks easy until you try it. A full one litre Maßkrug weighs well over two kilograms and you hold it out at arm's length for as long as your shoulder lets you. The last one still holding wins. It is one of the most respected titles at any Oktoberfest and the crowd gets right behind every competitor. You have three chances: one round on Friday and two on Saturday, each with a N$1,000 Pupkewitz Megabuild voucher for the winner.

‍

4. Lift the most bricks

Backsteinstemmen is the strongman event of the weekend. Competitors lift as many bricks as they can, the tent counts every one and the highest number takes it. First prize is a N$4,000 Pupkewitz Megabuild voucher, the biggest voucher in the games. It is open to men 18 and older in traditional Lederhosen.

‍

5. Grab a partner and race the saw

Baumstammsägen is a race against the clock for teams of two. One log, two of you and the fastest team to cut clean through it wins. Find the friend with the strongest arms and the most stamina, because every second counts. Each member of the winning team takes home a N$1,500 Pupkewitz Megabuild voucher, N$3,000 for the pair.

See you on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October at Sport Klub Windhoek.
