A good day out is one you do not have to think about afterwards. Here is how to keep 30 and 31 October at SKW simple, in seven easy steps.
Most of what makes a safe Oktoberfest happens before you leave the house. Your ticket, what goes in your pockets, the sunblock. Sort those and the festival does the rest: Die Kirchdorfer, the Festbier, the Schuhplattler and a few thousand people who came for the same reason you did.

Tickets for the Windhoek Oktoberfest are sold through NAM Events, our official ticketing partner, at nam-events.com/explore/windhoek-oktoberfest-2026. That is the only place to buy them. A ticket from a friend of a friend, a screenshot on WhatsApp or a link that did not come from us cannot be checked and nobody can vouch for it at the gate. Buy it from the source and keep the confirmation on your phone.

The festival has everything you need and the rest is just something to carry. Leave the big bag at home and come with what you need, your phone, your wallet and your keys. Fewer things means fewer things to put down, fewer things to look for at the end of the day and both hands free for a Maß and a Brezel.

The only thing you should lose at the Windhoek Oktoberfest is your voice. Whatever you bring, keep it on your person. Front pocket, zipped pocket, inside pocket, whichever one you can feel. Keep your phone with you rather than on the table and keep your jacket on you or over your knee rather than on a bench you have walked away from. A full tent is a busy place and busy places are where things get left behind. A little mindfulness goes a long way.

Oktoberfest runs on a cashless system through Howler, so notes and cards do not buy your pints directly. Bring a card or a little cash to load onto your Howler card at the stations, then tap for every drink and bite all festival long.

October in Windhoek is hot and a day at SKW is a day in the sun. Put sunblock on before you leave the house, bring it with you and put it on again during the afternoon. Wear a hat. Drink water from the moment you arrive rather than the moment you feel thirsty and keep it going alongside the Festbier all day. Look after yourself during the day and you will still be enjoying the evening. NBL offers a free water station at the main entrance, visitors can freely grab bottles of water to keep hydrated.

Oktoberfest is a family day and this one is built for it. There is a dedicated and supervised kids’ area with lots of entertainment for children (this is free). Here the little ones are looked after, so they get their own afternoon while you get yours. Agree with them where you will be, put your number in their pocket if they are small enough to need it and check in now and again. The Hendl, the Brezel and the Die Kirchdorfer band are as much theirs as anyone's.

Decide where the group meets if anyone drifts and decide it before the first round. Arrive with a full battery so nobody loses the group. The ride home you have already sorted, because whoever drives is the one who has not had a beer. Keep an eye on each other through the day. The person who needs a hand is usually the one who has gone quiet and a quick check across the table costs nothing.
And – if you lost something, no worries. Oktoberfest has a dedicated lost and found area at the main entrance.
See you on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October at Sport Klub Windhoek. Prost, Namibia.
